Upcoming drama “Confidence Queen” has teased Park Min Young ’s dazzling transformations!
A Korean adaptation of the 2018 Japanese comedy drama “The Confidence Man JP,” “Confidence Queen” follows three con artists with extraordinary talents as they pull off elaborate scams targeting villains from all walks of life. Park Min Young stars as Yoon Yi Rang, a con artist with an IQ of 165 and a genius-level intellect in the top 1 percent. With her eccentric thinking and cold charisma, she leads the team in their intricate schemes.
The newly released teaser instantly captivates viewers with Park Min Young’s rapid transformations. It opens with the back view of Yi Rang dressed neatly in a hanbok with her hair tied up, as the narration says, “Sinners shouldn’t go to hell when they die.” Yi Rang then slips off her outer attire, revealing her back tattoos as she turns around and declares, “You have to make them taste hell while they’re alive.”
In the next scene, Yi Rang stares coldly at a wall covered in case files, hinting at her next plans. The teaser then shifts, flashing the word “Sweet” as Yi Rang appears in a striking red dress, dancing with someone and flashing a seductive smile while saying confidently, “I can’t stand losing.”
As the word “Dangerous” appears, Yi Rang says boldly, “I don’t go easy just because they’re men,” before tossing men over her shoulder in an elegant vintage gown. In another moment, she points a gun offscreen after saying, “As long as I don’t kill them, right?” prompting James ( Park Hee Soon ) and Gu Ho ( Joo Jong Hyuk ) to exclaim together, “Are you crazy?” to which Yi Rang bursts out laughing.
The teaser continues with the phrase “The Art of Cons,” as Yi Rang’s voice narrates, “The beauty of a con is in the ad-lib,” showing her wearing paragliding goggles with a shocked expression. Quick cuts reveal her in a flurry of disguises: a superstar with long pink hair, a maiden with neatly braided hair, a flight attendant, a woman in a cheongsam, and a confident doctor-showcasing her endless transformations.
Finally, Yi Rang holds up a card and blows on it, magically changing its suit to hearts as she smirks, saying, “Well, I can’t let my natural talents go to waste.” She ends with a sly smile, declaring, “I’m a genius-level sociopath, you know,” heightening anticipation for her elaborate schemes.
“Confidence Queen” is set to premiere on September 6 at 9:10 p.m. KST. Stay tuned!
