At least 18 people have been confirmed dead after a Russian missile strike hit President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's home in the Ukraine's central city of Kryvyi Rih.

These include nine children as the missile struck the residential area on Friday, according to local officials.

It was one of Russia’s deadliest attacks in 2025 in the three-year-old war.

Other damage caused by the strike in Zelenskyy’s home town include shattering of residential blocks and fire outbreaks, according to the regional governor's Telegram message.

More than 30 people, including a three-month-old baby, were injured and now receiving treatment in hospital, Serhiy Lysak said.

The emergency service said that at least 50 people were wounded, adding that the figure was growing.

Zelenskyy said rescue efforts were still under way and called on the west to exert greater pressure on Moscow.

“All Russian promises end with missiles, drones, bombs or artillery,”; he said in his nightly video address.

“Diplomacy means nothing to them.”;
