WALMART is making a further foray into fashion with a brand-new affordable clothing line.

The brand will offer jeans, blouses, skirts, and shoes for $25 or less.

Walmart is expanding in the fashion space with their clothing line Scenario , which is aimed at making trendy clothing at a lower price point.

Walmart shoppers currently purchase basic staples from the brand, or from their clothing line Time and Tru, which is aimed at women 55 or older.

But the retailer found that the majority of shoppers were purchasing groceries and buying apparel elsewhere at a higher price point.

“We knew we weren’t servicing all their closet needs,” Denise Incandela, the executive vice president of fashion for Walmart US, told the Wall Street Journal.

Data showed that “while our customer gave us credit for extraordinary value, they weren’t giving us credit for style and quality,” she added.

Scenario is aimed at women around the age of 35 who want trendier pieces, explained a lead designer, Marcus Brown.

The clothing will have a more boho aesthetic, use natural fabrics like cotton, and include more embroidery details and pleating.

Scenario will roll out both in-store and online.

Incandela emphasized that Walmart will continue to focus on staples for budget shoppers, which continues to drive the majority of their apparel revenue.

“This is an ‘and’ strategy,” she said.

“We’re still going to cover those big-volume driving socks and underwear and denim and Ts.”

The change comes as Walmart reports slowing sales growth.
