A MAJOR supermarket has issued an urgent recall warning on a popular lunch option over fears it could be contaminated.
Waitrose is recalling its Egg and Spinach Protein Pot due to concerns it could contain the bacteria Salmonella.

Salmonella infections can cause fevers, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps.
The supermarket giant is now urging customers to not eat the product if they have bought it, and to return it to the store where they purchased it.
Affected batches of the lunch option have use by dates of July 31 and August 1.
If you have purchased the product with these use by dates, do not eat it, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) recall warning states.
Instead, return it to the store where it was bought for a full refund.
Waitrose added that if consumed, the pot “may cause illness”, due to the “potential presence” of Salmonella.
