WAFCON 2024: Tinubu salutes Super Falcons after win over South Africa

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has saluted the Super Falcons of Nigeria for securing a place in the final of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The Super Falcons booked a spot in the final of the biennial competition after a hard-earned 2-1 win over defending champions Banyana Banyana of South Africa.

Captain Rasheedat Ajibade and Michelle Alozie were on target for the Super Falcons in the thrilling encounter.

The Super Falcons put an end to South Africa’s 15-game unbeaten run in the competition.

Justine Madugu’s side now have one game standing between them and a 10th WAFCON title.

Tinubu praised the players for their fighting spirit.

“Well deserved!” declared the country’s number one citizen.

“Congratulations to our Super Falcons!

Your incredible #WAFCON2024 semi-finals victory over South Africa today was nothing short of superlative. It was a magnificent display of grit, talent, and the indomitable Nigerian spirit.

“You have made the nation proud. Keep soaring. Don’t stop until you bring the trophy home. Go for our 10th title.

“Nigerians worldwide are rooting for you. We are waiting to receive the cup.”

The Super Falcons will face either Morocco or Ghana in the final in Rabat on Saturday.
