Super Falcons forward, Rasheedat Ajibade, has claimed she didn’t deserve to be named Man of the Match after a 2-1 victory over South Africa in the semi-final of the ongoing 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Ajibade broke down in tears after receiving the award for the third consecutive game.
She dedicated it to her team-mates and attributed her success to divine grace.
Ajibade opened the scoring from the spot against the defending champions, before Linda Motlhalo levelled the game with another penalty.
Michelle Alozie’s cross from deep eluded Banyana Banyana keeper Andile Dlamini in the 94th minute, to win the game for Nigeria.
“I don’t deserve it, to be honest,” Ajibade said, reacting to her latest MOTM award.
“But God’s grace found me. And all of these Man of the Match awards, I dedicate them to my teammates.
“This is teamwork. It is not about me carrying this trophy today. It’s all about the team effort.”
