An Adamawa governorship aspirant, Chief Maurice Vunobolki, has formally announced his return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Vunobolki, who announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) earlier in the month after joining it in February in pursuit of his governorship ambition, said on Thursday that he was leaving the APC because it lacks internal democracy and fairness.
”I resigned my membership of APC three weeks after joining it. That decision was based on principle and fidelity to my conscience. During my brief time in APC, it became evident that certain processes and internal mechanisms did not align with the democratic values I hold, particularly with respect to fairness, transparency and the ability of members to fully participate and compete on a level playing field,” Vunobolki said.
He added that after his resignation from the APC, he embarked on extensive consultations with his supporters and political associates, who unanimously rejected what he described as a lack of fairness, accountability and justice in the APC.
Announcing his return to the PDP, Vunobolki described the party as more open and inclusive and said it provides the right environment for constructive engagement.
DAILY POST reports that Vunobolki is returning to a PDP whose membership has been greatly reduced after Governor Ahmadu Fintiri exited with his loyalists in February this year.
