The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has announced that it will initiate an indefinite nationwide strike starting on November 1, 2025.
This information was shared in a statement by NARD President, Mohammad Suleiman, on Sunday.
The statement indicated that the strike directive was issued following the expiration of a 30-day ultimatum previously given to the Federal Government regarding unresolved issues.
The decision was made after a five-hour meeting of the association’s National Executive Council (NEC) on Saturday.
“The NEC has outlined minimum demands, strike monitoring guidelines, and resolutions regarding ‘no work, no pay’ and ‘no pay, no work’ that are essential for the effective execution of this action.
“Today, following a 5-hour Extra-Ordinary National Executive Council Meeting, the members of the NEC have provided us with new directives once again.
“The NEC has unanimously instructed us to declare a total, comprehensive, and indefinite strike action to commence on Friday, October 31, 2025, at 11:59 PM,” the statement concluded.
