THREE university students have lost their lives in a hit-and-run incident after being struck by a “speeding teenage driver” at a crosswalk.

Three students from the University of Arizona were reportedly struck by a Porsche while crossing a marked crosswalk near the campus on Thursday.

Sophia Akimi Troetel, 21, and Josiah Patrick Santos, 22, were sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A third pedestrian, identified as Katya Rosaura Castillo Mendoza, 21, was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

She was declared dead on Saturday, according to officials.

The alleged driver, Louis John Artal, 19, has been charged with three counts of second-degree murder and one count of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.

The University of Arizona confirmed the fatalities in a statement, expressing: The University of Arizona community is profoundly saddened by the collision that took the lives of three of our students—Sophia Troetel, Josiah Santos, and Katya Castillo-Mendoza.
