The University of Ilorin has kicked off its 50th anniversary celebrations with an energetic Anniversary Walk that attracted a remarkable turnout of staff, students, alumni, and supporters of the institution.

Launching the event on Monday at the Main Gate of the university, Vice Chancellor Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, expressed his gratitude to the university community for their enthusiastic participation, describing it as a testament to their dedication to the growth and ideals of the institution.

A statement from the university's spokesman, Kunle Akogun, indicated that the Vice Chancellor emphasized that the golden jubilee celebration aims to showcase the University’s impact, highlight its achievements over the last fifty years, and reaffirm its commitment to future innovations.

He mentioned that the walk would culminate in a courtesy visit to the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, describing the visit as symbolic and highlighting the Emirate's crucial role in the University’s development since its inception.
