THE island of Anglesey in Wales has everything families need for a Great British break.
From dolphins to puffin spotting to the ‘s most beautiful beach, not to mention it’s incredibly quiet during the summer holidays – and affordable too.

I loved my family holiday to Anglesey – even if it was a bit windy
The Telegraph named Anglesey as one of the UK’s most “unfashionable” but “lovely” destinations where you can get a great value summer .
It added that it’s a “classic holiday destination that somehow comes without the crowds, traffic or costs found elsewhere.”
That’s exactly what I found when I visited the north-east coast of the island to explore the pretty village of .
Staying in a quaint cottage, I explored the little village stopping by Ann’s Pantry multiple times throughout the week, and The Coastal Cafe chippy.
My favourite which I discovered on a hike around the coast which is glorious in the summertime.
The beach has stretches of golden sands, and when the tide goes out, a natural paddling pool forms in the middle as water gets trapped behind a sandbank.
I’ve heard you can even spot dolphins amongst the waves if you’re lucky.
The village has its own little beach called Traeth Moelfre, and while it might not be a prime sunbathing spot you can still go into the sea for a quick dip.
Unlike other seaside towns and villages, Moelfre was incredibly quiet during my visit, despite it being August.
From Moelfre it’s a short 20-minute drive to Beaumaris and from there you can get up to Penmon Point and even .

While might not be the most ‘fashionable’ place, it still has everything the popular seaside resorts do.
The pretty colourful pastel houses in , well, you’ll find ones very similar to those at the seafront in .
The island is also packed with chippies, ice cream parlours, and plenty of shops to grab a bucket and spade.
It’s even home to the called Traeth Llanddwyn.
It was named as such by Time Out and was highly praised for being unique as it’s the only one that’s backed by a forest.
The beach stretches on for 3.5 miles and some visitors have even compared it to the “” during the summer months.
Another called it the “most beautiful beach in the UK.”

Behind the sandy shore is a tall forest which is the Newborough National Nature Reserve and is known for having red squirrels.
Another spot for nature spotting is Island, its an uninhabited area off the eastern tip of Anglesey, and there are plenty of regular boat trips or cruises to it.
It’s a wildlife hub for Atlantic grey as well as puffins – and if you’re lucky you might also get a glimpse of porpoises and dolphins on the way.
When it comes to booking a holiday stay, Anglesey is considered pretty cheap.
A five-night stay at Ty Gwennol cottage in Beaumaris in August can be booked from £1,220 for six people – or £40pppn.

Inside are three bedrooms, an open-plan living space with a kitchen, dining and sitting area with a balcony and there’s an orchard garden for enjoying the sunshine.
Another option is to head to a holiday park like Anglesey Bungalows .
A seven-night stay at the Cybi in Holyhead is £805 – or £28.75pppn.
The stay includes use of the indoor heated swimming pool, club, bar and adjoining games room.
One visitor said in their review: “I found what seemed an exceptionally cheap half term break and took a gamble.
“It was above and beyond what I expected, typical end of season stay.”
