Celtic head coach, Brendan Rodgers has revealed one of striker Kelechi Iheanacho’s greatest strengths after the Nigerian scored against Crvena zvezda in the UEFA Europa League on Wednesday.
Rodgers spoke while hailing the 28-year-old for his ‘outstanding goal’ against Crvena zvezda.
Iheanacho came off the bench and scored a nice goal as the match ended in a 1-1 draw at the Rajko Mitic Stadium.
“I thought Kelechi Iheanacho’s goal was outstanding,” Rodgers told TNT Sports, via BBC.
“I wanted us to be more proactive in the game, but overall, it was a nice first step for us in the competition.
“We needed someone centrally to hold the ball up. I felt we arrived in the final third, and in the first half were loose. One of Kele’s great strengths is that he can take the ball in and progress us up the pitch, and he gave us a better platform.”
Iheanacho has been impressive since joining Celtic as a free agent in the summer after his contract with Sevilla was terminated.
