Osun State chapter of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN, has clarified that the industrial action declared by the union remained indefinite.
This is as it described reports indicating that the strike was a warning strike of three days as false, baseless which is designed to undermine the union’s legitimate struggles.
The union made this clarification in a statement signed by its Chairman, Comrade Idris Adeniran on Thursday.
DAILY POST recalls that JUSUN in Osun State had commenced fresh industrial action over unresolved issues concerning staff welfare and delayed promotions on Monday, September 22, 2025.
Earlier, a directive was issued by the Osun JUSUN chairman on Friday, September 19, in a communiqué released after an extraordinary congress of the union.
The union alleged that the state’s Judicial Service Commission, headed by the state’s Chief Judge, Justice Oyebola Adepele Ojo, had failed to engage with the union despite previous correspondence and an ultimatum.
The statement reads, “Let me be clear: our strike action remains indefinite, and we stand unwavering in our commitment to realising our demands.”
The JUSUN chairman urged members, lawyers, and the general public to disregard the misinformation and remain vigilant.
“We will not be deterred by attempts to weaken our resolve or undermine our unity,” he added.
The State Executive Council of JUSUN also called on all judiciary staff to participate in a demonstration at the Osun State Judiciary headquarters, High Court Gate, on Thursday morning to reinforce solidarity.
“This gathering is a demonstration of our unity and determination to fight for justice and our rights. We urge all members to come out in full support of this initiative and make their voices heard,” Adeniran stated.
The Osun JUSUN chairman insisted that the demands of the union centred on two key issues, “timely and merit-based promotions, and the improvement of welfare conditions, including benefits and general well-being.
“Our demands are legitimate, reasonable, and long overdue. We will persist in our struggle until they are fully met and our rights are recognised by Honourable Justice Adepele Ojo, the Honourable Chief Judge of Osun State,” the statement read.
