UEFA refuses to change stadium for Europa League final if Man Utd, Tottenham qualify

Published on May 02, 2025 at 12:44 PM

UEFA will not change the venue for the Europa League final even if Manchester United and Tottenham both qualify.

The San Mames is scheduled to host the final and Athletic Bilbao had haboured dreams of winning the trophy on home soil.

However, the La Liga side were thrashed 3-0 by Manchester United on Thursday.

United now looks set to play Spurs in the final, after Ange Postecoglou’s side secured a 3-1 first leg advantage over Bodo/Glimt.

With two Premier League teams primed for the final, it has led to talk of using a venue more accommodating for fans of both clubs.

According to the BBC, however, UEFA have no plans to change the venue with the 51,000 home of Bilbao to stage the game, regardless of who makes it to the final.

A total of 41,000 tickets out of 49,600 are available directly for fans and the general public to purchase.

The two teams that reached the final may receive up to 15,000 tickets each while the remaining tickets are being offered for sale directly to fans worldwide.
