THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE could soon see a massive change to one of its most iconic aspects – the match ball.

Footballs in the competition have been made by Adidas for 26 years, but reports from the Athletic suggest that the partnership could soon come to an end.

are looking to boost revenue from the iconic bit of equipment, potentially igniting a bidding war between interested parties.

rivals and Puma are among the companies interested in getting their name on the new ball.

Sports manufacturer Decathlon’s deal to make both the Europa and Conference League match balls is also running out, and could spark further interest from rivals hoping to see their name under the mid-week stadium lights.

And they may get the chance as soon as the 2027/28 season, according to the reports.

Through Relevent Football partners and UC3, which brings together the governing body and the European Club Association, Uefa are launching a tender for the rights to make the match balls for all three continental competitions.

The process would see companies submit their bids for the prestigious honour.

But rights could be bundled together or sold off separately in an attempt to drive up revenue.

Adidas are expected to try and defend their position as the official match ball provider for .
