Liverpool manager, Arne Slot, has revealed that Mohamed Salah asked for a substitution against Galatasaray during both sides’ UEFA Champions League Round of 16 second-leg fixture on Wednesday.
Slot spoke at his post-match interview after Liverpool defeated Galatasaray 4-0 to advance to the Champions League quarter-final stage.
Slot’s side will now face Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-final stage next month.
Recall that Salah was on the scoresheet as Liverpool defeated the Turkish Super Lig champions to progress to the next stage on a 4-1 aggregate victory.
Salah was substituted in the 75th minute of the encounter by Cody Gakpo.
“Mo Salah asked for a substitution,” Slot was quoted by Fabrizio Romano as saying after the game.
“He felt something… so let’s see where he is for the weekend.”
Salah will now hope to recover in time to play for Liverpool when they face Brighton in the Premier League this weekend.
