Super Eagles attacker Victor Osimhen has shared his thoughts about joining Galatasaray and the incredible welcome he received from the fans.
He also spoke about a conversation he had with Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk after a Champions League match against the Premier League giants.
In a special conversation with The Players’ Tribune, the ex-Napoli player reflected on his move to Turkey and the emotions he felt upon arrival.
The former African Footballer of the Year said, “Before getting on the plane to Turkey, I trusted everything to God.
“When the plane landed, there were 3,000 Gala fans waiting for me in the middle of the night at a private airport. They were tracking my flight! The people welcomed me with open arms.
“That feeling is worth more than money,” he added.
The 27-year-old said the fans’ enthusiasm for the club left a strong impression on him and noted that the energy around the Turkish team exceeded his expectations.
Osimhen also discussed a conversation with Van Dijk after the Champions League match between Galatasaray and Liverpool.
The striker said the Liverpool captain noticed the electric atmosphere inside the stadium. “If you don’t believe me, just ask Van Dijk,” Osimhen said.
He recalled, “I was talking to him after our Champions League game against Liverpool, and he said, ‘Man, what kind of atmosphere is this!?’
“I responded, ‘Brother, to be honest, if I had never come here and someone just told me about it, I wouldn’t believe it.'”
