UCL: Absolute superstar, he doesn’t deserves to lose – Carragher hails Barcelona star

Published on May 07, 2025 at 04:27 PM

Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher has hailed Lamine Yamal following Barcelona’s Champions League semi-final second leg defeat against Inter Milan on Tuesday.

Carragher labelled Yamal an absolute superstar, adding that the Spain winger doesn’t deserves to be on the losing side.

Recall that two goals from Lautaro Martinez and Hakan Calhanoglu gave Inter Milan a 2-0 lead in the first half.

But Eric Garcia and Dani Olmo restored parity for Hansi Flick’s side before Raphinha gave Barca the lead.

Francesco Acerbi then equalized for Inter as the match ended in a 3-3 draw after 90 minutes.

However, Davide Frattesi scored the winning goal in the first half of extra-time to send the Serie A side to the final.

“It was that good, both ties and that man there [Yamal] doesn’t deserve to be on the losing side. Nobody deserves to be on the losing side, but especially when you consider how young he was,”; Carragher said (via CBS Sports).

“He was fantastic in both legs, and he was the man who almost won it for Barcelona late on in normal time and almost got Barcelona back into the game at the end of extra time.

“The man is an absolute superstar, and the one tinge of sadness is that when we are in Munich [for the Champions League final], we won’t be watching Yamal.”;
