TYSON FURY may face the 6ft 6in heavyweight Arslanbe Makhmudov in his anticipated return to the ring.

The Gypsy King is making his comeback after more than a year away from the sport.

He is expected to participate in a warm-up fight before challenging for the heavyweight world title or facing a prominent name in the division.

Makhmudov is among the contenders being considered to welcome Fury back.

Promoter Frank Warren was questioned about the potential matchup and told Box Nation : “He’s a very intelligent guy. He knows what he wants to achieve and how to get there.

“Of course, there’s discussion about opponents and so forth, but he’s not foolish… he understands what he needs to do.

“Perhaps, we might arrange that [Makhmudov fight].”

Fury, 37, announced his retirement in January of last year following consecutive points losses to Oleksandr Usyk, 38.

However, he is now back, claiming to be motivated solely by his passion for fighting.

Fury stated in an Instagram video: “I’ve won virtually everything from regional belts in England to major world titles. Fighter of The Year twice, Ring Magazine twice.

“WBC, every title available. But for me, there’s nothing else aside from the fight game. I love this fight game.

“It’s not for financial gain; I could have retired a decade ago and made a substantial fortune.

“No amount of money, although I always seek a fair deal, is worth more than my love for the fight game and the sport.

“I’m 37, turning 38 this year, and I feel old, but I love to fight. I have no other interests, just fighting.

“I was born and raised to fight. My destiny is within the fight game.”
