The Executive Chairman of Ohafia LGA, Eleanya Kalu, visited the Okon-Aku community in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State after the tragic killing of a youth, Igwe Akuma Akwu, and the destruction of property.
The local government chairman expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased and also visited the damaged homes of traditional rulers, Eze Ndukwe Iko, Eze Bernard Nkama, among others.
Eleanya Kalu urged the family of the murdered youth to remain calm and advocated for peaceful dialogue among all parties involved.



He denounced the acts of violence and destruction that occurred last weekend in Okon-Aku, labeling them as unacceptable and harmful to peace, unity, and development.
“To prevent any further breakdown of law and order, security personnel have been permanently deployed to the area to restore peace and protect lives and property,” he stated.
He expressed gratitude to the security agencies for their efforts in ensuring that the crisis did not escalate beyond its current state. He also instructed that the security forces remain in the community to maintain order.
