The Federal Government has revealed that it is in discussions with the United States regarding the recent military threat made by President Donald Trump.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, shared this information during an interview on Sky News.
According to the minister, diplomatic efforts are proving effective in fostering rapprochement between the United States and Nigeria amidst the tense relations.
“Communication channels have been established. I can confirm that we are in talks with them, and I believe they are gaining a better understanding of the situation,” he stated.
“We think that much of the information circulating is due to a lack of proper understanding of the diversity and complexity of the issues we are facing,” Idris added.
He emphasized that the Nigerian government has not lost any territory to Boko Haram terrorists, asserting that the fight against insurgency is not conventional warfare.
