In the first fight, ‘Trojan’ was supposedly losing on the scorecards heading into the tenth round at the First Direct Arena before knocking Simpson down FOUR times to snatch the titles.
However, the Barnsley has activated the rematch clause in his contract, hoping to take back his titles in the same city nine months later.
The new champion has been wanting to kick on in his career since the blockbuster win, but feels he has been held back by having to fight Simpson again.
Williamson said, “It’s about time they got themselves ready. And, believe me, they have made a big mistake by activating this rematch. This fight cannot come soon enough.”
Simpson lost his perfect record in the December loss, and is out for revenge this week in West Yorkshire – ‘Calm Callum’ has said he is “coming to take back what is mine.”
This event is the first Boxxer event under their new partnership with DAZN, with promoter “one of British boxing’s most eagerly anticipated rematches.”
