Troops from the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke have successfully rescued a kidnapping victim during a swift operation in Yaja Village, Lau Local Government Council of Taraba State.
The rescue, as reported by the Brigade's Acting Spokesperson, Lt. Umar Muhammad, took place on 11 December 2025. It followed credible intelligence received by soldiers stationed at Maraba Apawa, indicating the movement of suspected kidnappers in the vicinity.
According to the Army, the troops quickly initiated a rapid-response pursuit, exerting enough pressure to compel the kidnappers to abandon their hostage.
“The victim, identified as 40-year-old Alhaji Shuaibu from the Yelwata community in Ardo-Kola Local Government Area, had been abducted two days prior on 9 December 2025,” the statement noted.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, the Commander of the 6 Brigade, praised the soldiers for what he termed a timely, professional, and resilient operation.
He emphasized that the successful rescue highlights the Brigade’s commitment to safeguarding communities throughout Taraba State.
General Uwa reiterated that the Brigade is fully prepared to deny criminal elements any safe haven and warned that all forms of kidnapping, banditry, and violent crime will continue to be met with swift and decisive military action.
He also assured residents of a peaceful and secure festive season, encouraging the public to remain vigilant and provide timely information to assist ongoing security efforts.
