AJ, hailing from the UK, disclosed that, like many British individuals, she began drinking at a young age.

The 27-year-old revealed she had been drinking and partying since the age of 14, “like many people in the UK do.”

“I never understood my limits and would often drink until I blacked out,” AJ shared.

Regrettably, this behavior persisted as AJ aged, and she spent a decade reliant on alcohol before managing to quit for good.

In another video, she discussed the alarming festive incidents that illustrated her urgent need to stop drinking.

She stated: “Some of my festive drinking disasters as someone 16 months sober.”

AJ courageously opened up about some of the challenging situations alcohol had led her into, including an embarrassing encounter with a new colleague at a party.

She recounted: “I had been working for a company for just two weeks before their Christmas party.”

“It was an open bar, and I became completely blackout drunk within an hour and ended up kissing a brand new coworker.”

That wasn't the end of it; she also fell asleep alone on the bus at 3 AM.

On another occasion, she shared how she consumed a bottle of alcohol by herself before going out for a curry on Christmas Eve, only to end up vomiting in the pub's sink and clogging it.

AJ added: “Then I went out on Boxing Day and returned home at 1 PM the next day wearing two different shoes.”

Fortunately, AJ recognized her addiction last year and is now 16 months sober.

In another video, she stated: “I’m 445 days sober, and here are the five words that changed my life forever: I can’t drink alcohol safely.”

She captioned the post: “Sometimes I think the labels ‘alcoholic’ and ‘addict’ kept me from recovery because I didn’t believe they applied to me.

“I had an outdated understanding of what they meant. Then I learned what addiction truly is.

“You can be a binge drinker on weekends and still be addicted to alcohol. It’s not about how much you drink, but what happens when you do.”

What to Do If You Think You Are an Alcoholic

IF you are struggling with alcohol addiction, the most crucial step is to acknowledge the issue and seek support – you don’t have to face it alone.

Seek Professional Help
  • GP or Doctor – A medical professional can evaluate your situation and provide guidance on treatment options.
  • Therapists or Counsellors – Speaking with an addiction specialist can help address underlying issues and develop coping strategies.
  • Rehab or Detox Programs – If physical dependence is significant, medically supervised detox may be necessary.
Consider Support Groups
