A contestant on the latest season of The Traitors has disclosed that they are a recovering alcoholic.
Harriet, who is set to appear in the show, revealed that she fell into alcoholism following the death of her best friend in 2021.

Now in recovery, Harriet, 52, is striving to maintain her sobriety and focus on what is truly important to her.
In an interview with The Guardian, Harriet expressed: “There are only so many blackouts a middle-aged mother should experience.”
Reflecting on what finally motivated her to become sober, she stated: “One of my best friends passed away in April 2021. It was due to cancer, and it was devastating.
“And it was definitely not alcohol-related in any way.
“However, we were born just two weeks apart, and witnessing her life being cut short was a moment of reckoning for me.”
Harriet is a multi-talented individual, working as a writer and a former barrister.
When applying for The Traitors this year, Harriet found inspiration to participate in the show through her passion for crafting.
“I spend my life creating gruesome scenarios for how people might die,” she said.
She enjoys the concept of being able to “conspire to eliminate people or track down a murderer… without any actual bloodshed.”
Harriet also believes that her legal background may assist her in “noticing inconsistencies in what people say.”
Joining Harriet on the non-celebrity version of the popular program are a range of intriguing characters.
This includes Amanda, 57, a retired detective, and Ellie, 33, a psychologist.
Additionally, young PhD student Jade, 25, gardener James, 38, stylist Jessie, 28, and child liaison officer Judy, 60, are also part of the cast.
Other participants include creative director Matthew, 35, civil servant Maz, 59, nursery school teacher Netty, 42, head of communications Rachel, 42, and more.
The first episode of the new season is set to air tonight at 8pm, with each episode becoming available on-demand after being broadcast.
