The Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, stated that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is hesitant to zone its presidential ticket, unlike the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Keyamo made this remark in a post on his verified X account on Thursday, asserting that the ADC is unable to do so because the party is essentially under the control of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar.
He accused Atiku of replicating the same strategy in the ADC that he employed with the PDP before the 2023 general elections.
According to him, in a nation as sensitive as Nigeria, any truly national party must be transparent regarding zoning. He emphasized that the APC governors successfully established their zoning in 2023, which led to their victory.
“The ADC is reluctant to clearly define its presidential ticket zoning, unlike the other major parties (PDP and APC), because the party is dominated by one individual, Atiku Abubakar.
“It is the same predicament that Atiku pushed the PDP into in 2023, which the ADC now finds itself in; the failure to zone its presidential ticket,” he explained.
