The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has raised concerns about a new strategy employed by drug traffickers, who are now concealing illegal substances within items that resemble standard flight boarding passes.

This alert was issued on Sunday by the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, in a message shared on X (formerly Twitter).

According to Babafemi, operatives in Lagos recently discovered this deceptive method, which involves encasing dangerous substances, including a drug commonly referred to as Colos, inside what seem to be innocuous travel documents.

He urged parents, guardians, and the general public to exercise heightened vigilance, especially regarding packages delivered by dispatch riders, noting that traffickers are increasingly utilizing everyday items to avoid detection.

“These may appear to be ordinary flight boarding passes, but concealed within them are harmful substances such as Colos,” Babafemi stated.

“This is one of the new techniques employed to distribute illicit drugs throughout urban centers, as revealed by NDLEA operatives in Lagos.”

He characterized the discovery as a “wake-up call,” emphasizing the importance of families monitoring deliveries made to their children and wards.

“The merchants of death are becoming more inventive with their packaging, but the NDLEA remains several steps ahead,” Babafemi added.
