The Cabinet Office is now installing £150,000 military-grade satellite phones across Government departments at key sites.
These phones — which will work even if the grid goes down — will link the to police headquarters and the Ministry of Justice.
The communication network will also be expanded to include the , Defra, local councils and utility firms.
