President Bola Tinubu has inaugurated several newly completed projects at the University of Ilorin as part of the celebrations for the institution’s 40th convocation ceremonies.

The projects encompass the Faculty of Social Sciences Building, a Block of Four Lecture Halls serving the Faculties of Social Sciences and Management Sciences, the Department of English Drama Studio in the Faculty of Arts, the Renovated Blocks 1–10, the Renovated Department of Geography and Environmental Management Building, the Enhanced Unilorin Innovation Hub, and the Technical Entrepreneurship Centre Road.

At the event, the President, represented by the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Prof. Adenike Temidayo Oladiji, stated that the newly inaugurated projects highlight the essence of a genuine university system dedicated to serving humanity.

The President urged the university authorities to ensure the proper upkeep and oversight of the facilities, stressing that his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda is committed to promoting education and infrastructural development throughout Nigeria.

He remarked, “These projects embody the spirit of progress and innovation we aspire to achieve for our nation. I encourage Nigerians to have faith in the Renewed Hope Agenda and support initiatives that will elevate the country from grass to grace.”

Tinubu also praised the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, and his management team for their commitment to transforming the university and aligning its vision with national development objectives.

Additionally, the Chancellor of the University and Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumin Kabir Usman, represented by the Waziri of Katsina, Senator Ibrahim Idah, commended Unilorin’s dedication to academic excellence and creating a conducive learning environment.

He referred to the inaugurated projects as “valuable initiatives” that will enhance teaching, learning, and research, noting that the University’s emphasis on skill development will equip students for life beyond the classroom.

In his comments, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Egbewole, expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for accepting the institution’s invitation and for his support of its infrastructural advancement.

“We are committed to ongoing improvement and will ensure that the University continues to grow stronger and better each day,” he assured.
