HIS dreams of winning an Oscar were within touching distance, but with just hours to go until the world-famous awards show, Timothee Chalamet’s chances are looking slimmer than ever.

On the eve of the historic event, we’re told Marty Supreme star Timothee is likely to get the cold shoulder both from his peers and the organisers, and as once again finds herself getting the blame, insiders tell us the role she’s really played in his career downfall.

A insider explains: “Timothee was really hoping this would be his year, but a series of events means it isn’t looking good for him.

“Kylie is constantly the name being mentioned in all this, but the reality is Timothee has been saying and doing the wrong thing long before he met her.

“If anything, she’s been his real rock throughout this.

“If the Kardashian/Jenners know anything, it’s how to weather controversy, and she has been offering him crisis management throughout this.”

Timothee, 30, had been at the head of the market for most of the awards season, but this week Michael B. Jordan became the new favourite for his performance in Sinners.

It’s no secret that Timothee has sparked serious upset after he said he did not want to work in or ballet as “no one cares” about them, but do his diminishing Oscars’ dreams really come down to that?

Voting for the Oscars ended last week just as the latest Timothee controversy gathered momentum.

His fan account – Club Chalamet – insisted the whole thing was a “smear campaign”.

Timothee, unlike Michael, has been everywhere – he has been doing interviews left, right and centre, stunts with Kylie, as well as a rather aggressive social media campaign.

There was a parody Zoom call with his marketing team to discuss unhinged ways to promote the movie (like walking around with an entourage of human ping pong balls), which fell flat.

He even appeared in a in response to viral rumours he was in fact the rap star.

And up until now, he’s done very well – sweeping up at the and Critics’ Choice awards.

He holds the record of being the youngest actor ever to receive three Best Actor nominations and has clearly laid out his intentions to win the much-coveted Academy Award.

‘Bad taste’ comments

Last year at the SAG Awards, he had no qualms in saying: “I know we’re in a subjective , but the truth is, I’m really in pursuit of greatness.”

“I know people don’t usually talk like that, but I want to be one of the greats.

“I’m inspired by the greats. I’m inspired by the greats here tonight.”

His comments left a bad taste in the mouths of many. And in the months since, Timothee has managed to upset more and more people.

The nail in the coffin, though, came when in discussion with fellow actor about the of cinema.

He confidently explained: “I don’t want to be working in ballet or opera or, you know, things where it’s like, ‘hey, keep this thing alive’, even though no one cares about this anymore.

“All respect to the ballet and opera people out there, I just lost 14 cents in viewership, I just took shots for no reason.”

The clip quickly went viral, and the backlash has been ferocious.

slammed him on , Doja Cat also responded to his comments, saying, “Opera is 400 years old, ballet is 500 years old.”

In a now-deleted , she adds: “Somebody named Tim-oh-tay Cha-lam-et had the nerve – big guy, by the way – had the nerve to say, on camera, that nobody cares about it.”

She continues: “It doesn’t matter if the industry is having a tough time at any time; a lot of industries have a tough time.

“Your industry has a tough time, my industry has a tough time. Doesn’t mean people don’t care about it. People care. The dancers care, the singers care, the audience cares. There’s still an audience.”

Opera and ballet companies on both sides of the Atlantic have also reacted to his remarks.

Kylie struggles with her self esteem and it’s not her crowd and now she’s going to feel the pressure even more.

The English National Opera also invited Chalamet to a performance, while the Seattle Opera made headlines for offering 14 per cent off tickets for its production of Carmen with the promo code Timothee.

And critic and arts broadcaster Ian Brown says: “He’s an absolute fool. I just think he’s ridiculous, and I suspect that will come back to haunt him.”

Our insider adds: “There are going to be some awkward conversations at the Oscars for Timothee.

“Other celebs have been surprisingly vocal about all this, and the last thing they want is to be seen cosying up with him.

“It’s not going to be the ceremony he hoped for in so many ways.

“He didn’t want to upset anyone, but he’s incredibly focused on himself and doesn’t always think about the impact of his words.

“The whole situation has had a negative impact on Kylie too – she finds it very hard going to these events.

“She struggles with self-esteem, and it’s not her crowd, and now she’s going to feel the pressure even more.

“The mad thing is he’s 30 now, and with a woman who has two kids, he really needs to grow up.

“People might have been a bit more understanding if he were a kid, but he’s not.

“It’s embarrassing really, and the fact that people think Kylie is the one bringing him down are deluded.”

Indeed, in 2019, Timothee called both ballet and opera a “dying art form” during an interview.

And posing in matching outfits on the red carpet for Marty Supreme clearly wasn’t Kylie’s idea – he has form for being cringe.

Toe-curling PDAs are his thing – in 2019, pictures went viral of him and his then girlfriend engaging in the kind of snogging you’d see at a sixth form house party while .

Then, there’s his , which came to light in an old home video that went viral last year – showing a then-teen Timothée rapping for his school talent show as his alter-ego, Lil Timmy Tim, in 2012.

In the video, he rapped: “It’s Lil’ Timmy Tim, I am a boss. You really like my shirt? Should I take it off? See me with a girl, and you know it’s getting cuddly. See me in the hallway, and you know I hit my dougie.”

Despite being part of one of the world’s most famous families, Kylie is actually relatively private.

She managed to keep a whole pregnancy completely secret before – and she has never publicly discussed Timothee.

The timing is interesting for the couple too – she is currently being lauded for her appearance in mockumentary The Moment, alongside .

Insiders have suggested she’s interested in her own acting career after seeing how well her sister has done. It looks like it could be Kylie’s time to shine.

And despite the shame Timothee has brought on them both, there’s no way she’ll miss the Oscars. Who knows – she might end up winning one before him!
