Three men arraigned in Ekiti for illegal possession of firearm

Operatives of the Nigeria Police in Ekiti State have arraigned three individuals—IdokoSunday(45), Olayiwola Olaide (30), and GabrielSunday(37)—before a Chief Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti for alleged involvement in a felony.

According to the prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, the suspects were found in possession of a locally made pistol without a licence around 10 a.m. in Iropora-Ekiti.

Inspector Oriyomi stated that their actions contravene Section 421 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021, as well as Section 27(b)(ii)(v) of the Firearms Act, Cap F28, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

However, counsel to the defendants, Barrister F. O. Falade, applied for bail, which was granted by Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun in the sum of ₦25,000 each, with one surety in like sum.

The case was adjourned toJuly 8, 2025, for further hearing.
