THOMAS TUCHEL is set to name a provisional 55-man squad list for the World Cup, and three players on the list have already been leaked.

That includes a man whose last appearance came nearly EIGHT ago in a 1-0 friendly win against Switzerland at Leicester’s King Power Stadium.

Brighton forward has been in the form of his life this season, scoring 14 goals in all competitions – his best tally of his career across a single campaign.

and defenders Luke Shaw and Jarrad Branthwaite will also be on the list.

Mike McGrath, a Journalist at the The Telegraph, put out the following post on X.

McGrath wrote : “Danny Welbeck, Luke Shaw and Jarrad Branthwaite set to be included in England‘s provisional World Cup pool of players. to submit up to 55 to Fifa by today’s deadline. He picks his final 26 on May 22 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏆”

Welbeck, 35, has been in fine form this term under .

Brighton are in the hunt for football, sat three points behind sixth-place Bournemouth with two games left to play.

Should Aston Villa finish in the top five AND win the , sixth place goes into the Champions League next season and it could well be Brighton.

If that does happen, they will have talisman Welbeck to thank for an incredible season.

The Mancunian’s goals have been worth 13 extra points for his side, and his 13 Premier League goals make him the joint highest scoring Englishman in the division – alongside ‘s Morgan Gibbs-White.

Ollie Watkins and Dominic Calvert-Lewin are just behind on 12.

Calvert-Lewin and Dominic Solanke were in Tuchel’s last squad in March, while both Watkins and Welbeck didn’t feature.

One of the biggest debates surrounding the World Cup squad is who is set to be understudy to as striker when Tuchel names his final squad on May 22.

Based on this season, Welbeck has as good a chance as anybody.
