The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kebbi State has accused three defecting senators, including Senator Adamu Aliero, of political betrayal and ingratitude, following their return to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Addressing journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday, the PDP State Chairman, Usman Bello Suru, expressed dismay over the senators’ decision, recalling how the party stood by them when they were denied tickets by the APC ahead of the 2023 general elections.
“When the APC rejected them, it was the PDP that gave them a platform and stood by them,”;; Suru said.
“Now, they are returning to the same APC that has inflicted hardship and rising cost of living on Nigerians.”;;
He described the move as driven by selfish ambition rather than the interest of the people they represent.
“They did not leave for the good of the people. This is purely personal and an act of ingratitude,”;; he stated.
Despite the defection, Suru maintained that the PDP remains resolute and unshaken, adding that the party’s strength and support base in Kebbi State remain intact.
“We are not shaken by their defection. The PDP is still strong and standing firm in Kebbi,”;; he declared.
Senator Adamu Aliero, alongside two other senators, recently announced their return to the APC, a move that has sparked reactions across the state’s political landscape.
