Former Senator, Shehu Sani has mourned the death of 17 soldiers by terrorists in Niger State, saying they gave their lives for the safety and peace of Nigerians.

DAILYPOST recalls that Nigerian Army troops had at an operation against bandits, neutralized scores of them but lost 17 officers.

Following this, senator Shehu Sani, who mourned the death of the heroic soldiers, took to his Facebook saying many families are deeply mourning their loved ones.

“It’s sad to hear that the Nigerian Army lost 17 of its men during an operation against bandits in Niger State. It is a colossal loss to our country. Some may just read it as a news item, but our fallen heroes were fathers, Brothers, Uncles, Sons and breadwinners to some families that are now in deep mourning.

“They gave their lives for us to live in peace. We appreciate their lives of service and the ultimate sacrifice they made for our country.
I wish to appeal to the Nigerian Army and the FG to ensure that the families they left behind are well taken care of, in their journey to an uncertain future.I cant but imagine the pains in the hearts of their children when they come to the realisation that “Daddy will never be coming back home forever.

”;We remain hopeful and prayerful that Our country shall someday prevail over terrorists and bandits. May their souls rest in peace.”;
