The Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has announced that terrorists and kidnappers no longer have a secure environment to operate within the state due to the deployment of forest guards in crucial areas.

The governor made this statement in Ilorin on Saturday during the graduation ceremony for over 1,000 forest guards who have successfully completed their training and are ready to commence full operations.

The guards will assist in combating terrorism, kidnapping, illegal mining, and other criminal activities, particularly in forested regions.

AbdulRazaq commended the existing security agencies for their hard work and noted that the inclusion of forest guards, who were recruited from local communities, would enhance security in the state.

“Today signifies a new phase in our battle against terrorism, kidnapping, and other assaults on our citizens,” the governor stated. “The message is unequivocal: criminals must vacate Kwara State immediately or face severe repercussions.”

He elaborated that this deployment reflects the government’s commitment to transition from a defensive stance to a proactive approach against crime.

“With the establishment of the forest guards, we are taking the initiative. Our citizens deserve peace and security. Anyone who believes otherwise is an adversary of the state and will not be tolerated,” he added.

In addressing the newly trained guards, the governor urged them to regard their responsibilities as a significant national duty.

“You are undertaking a vital mission to safeguard our citizens from criminals lurking in the forests,” he remarked.

“In collaboration with other security agencies, you must eradicate terrorists, restore order, and ensure our communities are safer than ever.”

AbdulRazaq also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he termed a courageous response to the nation’s security challenges, as well as the Office of the National Security Adviser for coordinating this initiative.

He expressed confidence that cooperation among all security agencies would lead to enduring peace in the state.

Lastly, the governor urged the residents of Kwara to assist security forces by providing information and collaborating to make the state inhospitable for criminals.
