A TEENAGE motorbike rider who left a boy of seven scarred for life when he sped through a red light is facing jail.
Callean Wyburn was riding the at between 20mph and 30mph with dodgy brakes when he ploughed into the lad.
The boy, who can’t be named, was knocked off his scooter on a pelican crossing in front of his mum in June last year.
A court heard he suffered a cut to his cheek, which has left a permanent scar.
His jaw was fractured and he lost a tooth.
His mum said: “I carry a huge amount of guilt.
“I told him it was safe to cross.”
Wyburn, 17 at the time, and two pals fled in Christchurch, .
He handed himself in to the following day.
In May, he admitted causing serious injury by dangerous driving and was due to be sentenced on Friday.
But Poole magistrates decided a custodial sentence of 12 months was “appropriate” and sent the case to crown court in October.
In a letter, business student Wyburn said his actions were “completely stupid and unforgivable” and apologised to the boy and his family.
