Teen’s Hand Severed at 18th Birthday Bash, Six Arrested Following Shocking Assault

SIX individuals have been apprehended following an incident where a teenager's hand was reportedly “severed completely” during an 18th birthday celebration.

Authorities initiated an investigation after the alleged “serious assault” occurred in the early hours at a residence in Huyton.

The victim was at a location on Colin Close when he experienced the “life-changing” injury on September 27.

At approximately 12:20 am, the teenager ran to a nearby pub, reportedly “with part of his arm missing,” seeking assistance from the bar staff.

Emergency services were dispatched to the pub shortly thereafter, where they treated the victim for his injuries before transporting him to a hospital.

A 17-year-old sustained a minor hand injury during the alleged incident, according to police reports.

Merseyside authorities subsequently arrested an 18-year-old on suspicion of section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent and section 18 wounding with intent.

A 15-year-old boy was also taken into custody on suspicion of section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent.

Last month, another 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding with intent.

Additionally, today the police confirmed that three 17-year-old boys were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, with the investigation still ongoing.

All six individuals who were arrested have since been released on police bail.

Following the alleged attack, detectives launched an urgent appeal for information.

Officers reviewed CCTV footage and conducted forensic investigations and house-to-house inquiries as part of the probe.

The establishment was closed the next day for cleaning, with one patron describing the scene as having blood “everywhere.”

They told Liverpool Echo : “There was blood everywhere, and the pub was just seconds away from locking the doors when he came in.”

A spokesperson for the pub confirmed that the teenager entered “after closing time” seeking assistance.

They stated: “On Friday night, our team was called to assist a local community member who came into our venue after closing time requesting help for a serious injury.

“Emergency services were contacted, and the individual received treatment.”

Det Insp Graeme Osborne previously commented: “This was an assault involving a bladed weapon…

“… which has left the victim hospitalized for treatment of a serious and potentially life-altering injury.

“Some individuals present may have witnessed or heard what transpired, and indeed may know who was involved.

“Witnessing this assault would undoubtedly have been distressing, but we need to collect all possible information…

“… which includes witness accounts, CCTV, or any other footage or images from those present, living or passing nearby.

“Officers will be in the area today, and it is crucial that people come forward urgently, as we are determined to identify those responsible.”
