Investigators allege that the 26-year-old engaged in inappropriate relationships with multiple students linked to Agua Dulce Secondary School.
The most serious allegation involves the early hours of February 29, 2024, when Charles allegedly picked up three teenagers: a 14-year-old boy, a 16-year-old boy, and a 15-year-old girl.
She drove them to a Walmart parking lot in Alice, Texas, arriving around 2:10 AM.
According to court documents, Charles then tied a blanket around the headrests of the front seats of her SUV before allegedly engaging in sexual acts with the 14-year-old boy in the front seat while the other two minors remained in the vehicle.
At the time of the alleged incident, Charles reportedly claimed she was pregnant with the 14-year-old's child, investigators stated.
The alarming allegations surfaced only after a student was found with a vape on school grounds, prompting a broader investigation by the Agua Dulce Independent School District, according to Scripps News.
During interviews with staff and students, officials were reportedly told that Charles had provided the vape herself.
As police expanded their inquiry, authorities discovered claims that Charles had been supplying THC-infused vapes to several students, according to reports.
Martinez indicated that Charles allegedly began purchasing vapes for boys two years earlier, even before she was employed as a teacher.
Officers later interviewed five male students, four of whom confirmed they had inappropriate relationships with Charles and claimed she provided them with THC vapes and alcohol.
Martinez further stated that Charles had engaged in sexual relationships with two students prior to joining the school district.
Alice Police Chief Eden Garcia mentioned that investigators obtained video evidence showing Charles with a student at a local hotel.
“We received calls from concerned parents about their children being with a teacher,” Garcia said.
“We have video footage of the teacher with a student at one of the hotels.”
Garcia added that police cannot confirm what transpired inside the hotel and do not believe any sexual activity occurred on campus, but they do have evidence of Charles being with students.
Investigators now believe the alleged crimes span two counties: Nueces and Jim Wells.
At a status hearing on Thursday in the 105th District Court, Charles' attorney Robert J. Gonzalez informed Judge Jack Pulcher that he has not yet received any evidence from Jim Wells County.
Gonzalez argued that the Jim Wells County case may be connected to the two cases already filed in Nueces County, noting that no indictment has been issued there yet.
Pulcher scheduled Charles' next court appearance for the first week of April.
Charles, who was 24 at the time of her arrest in March 2024, has been charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and two counts of grooming.
Her bond has been set at $400,000, according to jail records.
Authorities have indicated there may be as many as 12 alleged victims.
The former science teacher graduated from Texas A&M University-Kingsville in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science degree, the same year she is accused of beginning inappropriate relationships with minors.
She has since resigned from her teaching position with the Agua Dulce Independent School District.
Police believe the alleged sexual offenses occurred in Agua Dulce and Alice, and the investigation is ongoing.
