A match at the Australian Open was halted after a ball kid COLLAPSED.

The incident occurred during the first round qualifying match at Melbourne Park between Luca van Assche and Moez Echargui.

French player Assche progressed with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over the Tunisian, but the match was paused during the second set amid concerning scenes.

Echargui was preparing to receive a serve from Van Assche when the young ball kid stumbled forward and fell to the ground.

Assche immediately ran over to assist the child and called for help.

The ball kid was helped to their feet and examined by a Tennis Australia representative while recovering under a parasol.
