Deborah Franklin, 65, is accused of eight counts of gross indecency with a boy under 14 between 1991 and 1995 at a preparatory school in Hertfordshire. In a video recorded interview, the complainant, now in his 40s, said he was nine when he joined Franklin’s class and she became his private tutor. Holding back tears at times, he said: ‘Ms Franklin was very gregarious, high energy, much younger… We got on very well and I remember developing a strong friendship. It presented like a mate. ‘[There was] a lot of whispering, inside jokes, a lot of learning from her as you would from an older friend. She spoke about drugs, cigarettes, sex. Very adult things I could not get outside of that. I was the perfect candidate. The pupil, now a man in his 40s, said he was nine when he joined her class at the school and she became his private tutor.
He described “countless” encounters in which Franklin would tie him to her marital bed, blindfold him, tickle him with a feather and then have sex, the heard.
At St Albans crown court, Aisling Byrnes, defending, asked: “Did anything sexual happen between you and him?”
She replied: “Never.”
Franklin, from Radlett, Herts, denies eight counts of gross indecency with a boy under 14.
The trial continues.
