Taylor Swift has added two Spotify milestones to her 2026 run following the release of The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, an expanded edition of her 2025 album.
Spotify said that on 25 September, “Patient Zero” became its most-streamed song by a female artist in a single day in 2026 so far. The platform also said Swift became its most-streamed female artist in a single day this year.
Two single-day Spotify records
The achievements arrived alongside the release of The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore. The expanded project adds four songs: “Patient Zero”, “Cleveland!”, “Pink Clouding” and “Babylon”.
Reporting from Billboard, Variety, RTÉ and The Independent all cited Spotify’s announcement of the two records. The milestones concern 2026 single-day performance for female artists; they should not be read as all-time Spotify records.
That distinction matters because streaming records can refer to different measures, including first-day album totals, individual-song streams, artist totals and all-time versus calendar-year benchmarks.
‘Patient Zero’ leads the new release
“Patient Zero” is the lead song from the four-track expansion. Its immediate streaming performance gave the new edition a strong launch and put the track at the centre of Swift’s latest release cycle.
The Encore extends The Life of a Showgirl rather than replacing the original album. The four newly released songs give listeners additional material while preserving the identity of the earlier record.
The release has also generated fresh attention because the full “Patient Zero” music video is scheduled to premiere during the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on 27 September.
