SWIFTIES thought they’d had their fill of surprises – but Taylor Swift had other ideas, announcing four brand new songs are on the way.
The superstar has revealed an expanded edition of her record-breaking album
Sharing the news on Instagram , she wrote: “Titled The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, the new edition will arrive this Friday and features four previously unheard tracks.”
Taylor revealed the songs were written during a celebratory trip to Sweden with her songwriting team after the staggering success of the original album.
Announcing the news, she told fans: “About a year ago, you guys did a truly unfathomable thing. Something that completely blew my mind… You gave The Life of a Showgirl the biggest first week for an album in history.
“I took a trip to Sweden to celebrate with Max and Shellback, my two collaborators on this album.
“Really we just wanted to reflect and take in how grateful we were for the moment we were in, but there was a studio there and we did what we do when we feel anything at all: We wrote more songs.
“I hope you love them, because they were born out of pure gratitude for your exuberance for and celebration of the album we made.”
The announcement came just a day after Taylor revealed her new single Patient Zero, which is due out this Friday.
“I’ve been impatiently waiting to tell you that my brand new single ‘Patient Zero’ will be out on September 25 (!!!!!!!!!!!!),” Taylor wrote on Instagram yesterday.
She added that it would be available to pre-order on her website for 24 hours.
Fans can also pre-order CD disc singles featuring piano and acoustic versions of the track for a limited time only.
As a clue before the drop, the singer teased fans by gradually replacing letters in her Instagram bio with zeroes to hint at its title.
Some were convinced she was preparing to announce a , which turns 20 next month. Taylor has released four Taylor’s Version albums, but has yet to release a rerecording of her debut.
