DRAMATIC bodycam footage shows the moment police chase down and corner a violent rapist after he tried to hide in a garden.

The video shows the moment the sex offender Oscar Love is confronted by an officer on the same night he assaulted a woman on the street in Ramsgate.

When the officer tells him he is about to be arrested, he rapidly turns on his heel and sprints along Newington Road, shouting, “No you’re not mate!”

The officer temporarily loses sight of him and sends directions to his colleagues, saying, “Looks like he’s going to go into some gardens.”

Before long, the find him cowering in a garden, backed up against the wall.

The officer points a flashlight and at him and shouts: “Stand up, show me your hands and walk towards me.”

He pleads, “I’m not going to do anything”, before the officer pins his hands behind his back and tells him he is under arrest.

Officers were previously called to a bar in Ramsgate Harbour, where a woman accused Oscar of assaulting her.

She later disclosed multiple other sexually violent incidents.

Oscar was remanded in and later charged with two counts of and six additional offences, including threats with a weapon and strangulation.

He was found guilty after a four-day trial and previously admitted separate offences of a breach of his existing Sexual Harm Prevention Order, and escaping lawful custody.

The 32-year-old was jailed for 13 years today at Canterbury Crown Court.

Det Con Chris Harvey said: “Oscar Love is a violent offender, who caused serious physical and mental harm to his victim.

“Tackling violence against woman and girls is a Kent Police priority and we will do all we can to bring offenders like him to justice.

“I urge any other potential victims or anyone with concerns about Love’s behaviour to contact Kent Police.

“I also want to commend the strength of the victim throughout this case.

“Her bravery and continued support with the investigation made the conviction received today possible.”
