Taraba govt begins six-month recertification of land titles

Published on May 18, 2025 at 01:08 PM

The governor of Taraba State, Agbu Kefas, has approved the recertification of all Certificates of Occupancy (C of Os) across the state.

The initiative, according to the governor, is part of the government’s efforts to ensure all land documents are current and comply with updated regulations.

In a release issued out on Sunday by the Director General of TAGIS, Dr Joshua Maaku Mark, the exercise, which will run for a period of six months, will be conducted by the Taraba Geographic Information System, TAGIS.

The statement said property owners are required to visit the TAGIS headquarters formerly the Bureau for Land and Survey to complete the recertification process.

He emphasized the importance of compliance, warning that late fees will be imposed on those who fail to recertify within the six-month window.

“We urge all landed property owners to take this opportunity seriously and ensure timely recertification to avoid penalties.”;;
