Taraba: Deal ruthlessly with security threats – Commander orders troops

Published on June 19, 2025 at 09:54 AM

The Commander, 6 Brigade and Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke, OPWS, in Taraba State, Brig. Gen. Kingsley Uwa, has ordered troops to deal ruthlessly with all security threats in the state.

This was contained in a statement in Jalingo on Thursday by Capt. Olubodunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations of the brigade.

Uwa, according to the statement, issued the marching order during the inauguration of a Forward Operating Base, FOB, in Wukari, to strengthen security and consolidate operational gains in Southern Taraba.

“Uwa addressed troops deployed to the base, charging them to maintain the highest standards of discipline, vigilance, and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

“He emphasised the importance of safeguarding all military assets and equipment within the base and maintaining a robust presence in the area.

“The Commander also gave clear directives for troops to dominate their area of responsibility and ensure that bandits, terrorists, and other criminal elements are denied any freedom of action,”; the statement added.

It further reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to restoring and sustaining peace and security across Taraba State.

“To further demonstrate operational readiness and build public confidence, Brigadier General Uwa immediately led troops on a confidence-building patrol within Wukari town and surrounding communities.

“The patrol aimed to reassure residents of the military’s presence and its unwavering resolve to protect lives and property.

“The establishment of FOB Wukari marks a significant milestone in the Brigade’s ongoing operations and is expected to enhance rapid response capabilities, improve intelligence gathering, and deepen civil-military cooperation in the area,”; the statement added.
