The Executive Chairman of Lau Local Government Council in Taraba State, Peter Julius Vau, has formally defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defection took place on Wednesday in Lau, the administrative headquarters of the council.
Speaking on the occasion, he described his decision as one driven by the need to promote unity, progress, and sustainable development in Lau Local Government Council.
He reaffirmed his commitment to people-oriented governance, noting that joining the APC would create greater opportunities for political inclusion and accelerate development initiatives across the area.
Vau assured residents that his administration remains committed to maintaining peace, strengthening unity, and delivering accelerated development under the APC platform.
The defection was regarded as a new chapter in the political landscape of the council. Recently, the governor of the state, Dr Agbu Kefas, his entire cabinet, and 16 PDP members in the Taraba State House of Assembly defected from PDP to APC.
