The Chief Judge of Taraba State, Justice Joel Agya, on Monday urged the newly appointed notaries public to maintain integrity, impartiality, and strict adherence to the law as they begin their roles both within the state and beyond.
Justice Agya delivered this message during the swearing-in ceremony for six new notaries public held in Jalingo.
While administering the Oath of Office, he emphasized that the role is founded on trust, integrity, and has significant global implications.
He encouraged the appointees to actively contribute to enhancing legal transactions, fostering commercial activities, safeguarding vulnerable individuals, and ensuring that all documentation originating from Taraba adheres to the highest standards of authenticity.
“Your selection by the Honourable Chief Judge of Nigeria confirms your competence and reputation at the Bar,” he stated.
“It also serves as a reminder that the public, institutions, and the international community will now depend on your diligence and professional integrity.”
“Therefore, you must perform your duties with fairness, precision, confidentiality, and strict adherence to the Notaries Public Act 2023 and all applicable regulations,” Agya added.
In his comments, Mr. Martin Milkman, Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Taraba branch, expressed gratitude to the Chief Justice of Nigeria for recognizing six members of the branch as deserving of appointment.
Milkman, who is also one of the appointees, committed to fulfilling their responsibilities with humility and fairness.
He encouraged other Bar members in the state to pursue this office, noting that the simultaneous appointment of six Notaries Public is unprecedented in Taraba State.
