<h4>PSG raising funds to sign Pogba (at a discount)</h4>
Pogba is <a href="https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/man-united-pogba-transfer-news-24579395" target="_blank" rel="noopener" target="_blank">reportedly</a> the top target (once again) for PSG, as the Ligue 1 side prepares to sell a handful of players to raise the $70 million they believe will be required to sign him from Manchester United.
With just one year remaining on his current deal at Old Trafford, Pogba will effectively decide his long-term future over the next six weeks, from now until the end of the summer transfer window. If the 28-year-old accepts a new contract offer from Manchester United, obviously he stays.
But according to a fresh report from our partners in the <a href="https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12362270/paul-pogba-unlikely-to-sign-new-man-utd-contract-as-raphael-varane-finalises-personal-terms" target="_blank" rel="noopener" target="_blank">UK at Sky Sports</a>, Pogba is &#8216;increasingly unlikely&#8217; to sign a new contract at United, and that has given PSG hope of pulling off a deal for the French superstar.
If he rejects all offers from the Red Devils, he&#8217;s almost certain to leave the club. Ideally, Pogba and Manchester United will answer question no. 1 with plenty of time to spare before deadline day, so as to work out a deal for the club to net a still-significant transfer fee (lest he goes to PSG for nothing in 12 months) and for Pogba to secure the final mega-contract of his prime years, as he rightly should do.
Time&#8217;s ticking.

<h4>Manchester United make pre-&#8220;offer&#8221; to Goretzka</h4>
Speaking of Manchester United and midfielders with one year left on their contract, Bayern Munich star Leon Goretzka is <a href="https://talksport.com/football/914875/manchester-united-contract-leon-goretzka-bayern-munich/" target="_blank" rel="noopener" target="_blank">reportedly</a> one long-term answer to the question, &#8220;Who replaces Pogba if/when he leaves?&#8221;
Like Pogba, Goretzka has 12 months remaining on his contract, yet Manchester United are already said to be in contact with the 26-year-old&#8217;s representatives to make an unofficial &#8220;offer&#8221;-to-be. By allegedly putting a theoretical future offer on the metaphorical table, Manchester United are, effectively, bidding directly against Bayern Munich to win Goretzka&#8217;s next contract: either he re-signs and begins said deal now, or he declines and the five-year terms begins a year from now.
An interesting twist: If Manchester United are able to pre-agree a pre-agreement on a pre-contract deal with Goretzka, signing him for no transfer fee next summer would effectively offset the loss of fee if Pogba were to leave on a free transfer at the same time. Even with certain assurances, it&#8217;s a risky play that could go sideways on them at any point in the next six months, but signing Goretzka could be the kind of transformational move that helps put Manchester United back atop the Premier League hierarchy.

<h4>Bale has MLS offer, wants to stay at Real Madrid</h4>
Bale is said to have offers from multiple MLS sides to move stateside this summer, but the 32-year-old has instead <a href="https://talksport.com/football/914875/manchester-united-contract-leon-goretzka-bayern-munich/" target="_blank" rel="noopener" target="_blank">reportedly</a> decided to see out the final 12 months of his Real Madrid contract before moving on next summer, when virtually the same offers (heavily reduced from his $42-million-per-year contract in Madrid) will still be on the table.
Real Madrid agreed to pay Bale that much money for that long of a period, and he would like to collect it. All of it.

<h4>Gil to Tottenham, Lamela to Sevilla in swap deal</h4>
Erik Lamela is set to leave Tottenham Hotspur as part of a <a href="https://talksport.com/football/914875/manchester-united-contract-leon-goretzka-bayern-munich/" target="_blank" rel="noopener" target="_blank">reported</a> swap deal for Spanish midfielder Bryan Gil. Tottenham will also include close to $30 million along with with Lamela, who leaves with one year left on his contract and eight years after he arrived as part of the windfall of cash following — you guessed it — Bale&#8217;s move to Real Madrid.
Gil spent the 2020-21 season on loan to Eibar, who were relegated from La Liga, where he scored four goals and assisted three others.

Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund for a fee believed to be $100 million.

Sancho, 21, is one of the top young wingers in the world and this signing brings an end to a year-long pursuit from United.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer finally has his man.
The England international came through the academy setup at Watford and then Manchester City, and left City to join Borussia Dortmund in 2017.
He&#8217;s been a star in the Bundesliga since then and Sancho has agreed a lucrative five-year contract (with the option of an extra year) and is keen to make his Premier League debut for the Red Devils.
<h4>What has Sancho said?</h4>
&#8220;I’ll always be grateful to Dortmund for giving me the opportunity to play first team football, although I always knew that I would return to England one day. The chance to join Manchester United is a dream come true and I just cannot wait to perform in the Premier League,&#8221; Sancho said. &#8220;This is a young and exciting squad and I know, together, we can develop into something special to bring the success that the fans deserve. I am looking forward to working with the Manager and his coaching team to further develop my game.&#8221;
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer added: &#8220;Jadon epitomizes the type of player I want to bring to the club, he is a forward player in the best traditions of Manchester United. He will form an integral part of my squad for years to come and we look forward to seeing him blossom. His goals and assists records speak for themselves and he will also bring tremendous pace, flair and creativity to the team.&#8221;
<h4>What will he bring to United?</h4>
Solskjaer touched on some of Sancho&#8217;s qualities there and most importantly the London native will bring balance to their attack, as 50 goals and 64 assists in four seasons with Dortmund is some record.
He is able to play on either wing or centrally and his ability to run at defenses but also cut inside, take people on and create space for others, as well as provide an end product.
After being in the England squad and playing a bit-part role (which included an impressive display in the quarterfinal win against Ukraine) in their run to the EURO 2020 final, Sancho will be keen to prove this worth further. He has received huge levels of support after being one of the three young England players to miss a penalty kick in the final defeat to Italy as he, Marcus Rashford and Bukayo Saka all received racist abuse on social media.
Sancho is not afraid to stand tall, take a chance and back himself and he will certainly have to do that at United as this will be his first-ever Premier League season.
With Bruno Fernandes, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, Daniel James, Edinson Cavani, Amad Diallo, Jesse Lingard and others at Old Trafford in the attacking areas this season, United are stacked.
But it is clear that Sancho will be a starter.
&#8220;Old Trafford will give him the platform he needs to release his untapped talent and perform at the highest level. For a player of his age, Jadon has already achieved a great deal and showed the courage to go and prove himself abroad. We all look forward to welcoming Jadon to the squad as we prepare for the new campaign,&#8221; Solskjaer added.
<h4>Where will he slot in?</h4>
It is likely he will play on the right wing and in an ideal world Solskjaer will have a front four of Rashford on the left, Fernandes central, Sancho on the right and one of Cavani or Martial up top. Not bad, right?
With Diallo, Greenwood, James and Lingard in reserve, United legitimately have two star-studded attacking lines for next season.
Of course, Sancho&#8217;s arrival is likely to spark some departures to balance the books (Lingard and James?) but the biggest losers from his arrival could be Rashford and Greenwood who will have to split minutes with the talented young winger.
Solskjaer and United are staying true to their word of snapping up young talent and after signing Sancho, extending Cavani&#8217;s contract to help nurture their young stars and chasing the likes of Erling Haaland and Harry Kane, you get a sense they&#8217;re not done.
The signing of Sancho is a signing of intent to Manchester City, and other PL rivals, that Solskjaer&#8217;s side aren&#8217;t content with finishing in second-place in the Premier League like they did last season.

Many consumers use their credit cards to rack up rewards to be used toward travel. 
But what if you’re a sports fan, and using your credit card could lead to a virtual conversation with a player on your favorite team? Thanks to San Francisco-based <a href="https://www.flyingeze.com/category/" target="_blank">Cardless</a>, that opportunity may be less of a stretch than you think.
The startup, which is out to give brands and tech companies a way to launch custom co-branded credit cards, has raised $40 million in a Series B funding round led by Activant Capital. Other investors include the owners and management of the Phoenix Suns and Boston Celtics and existing backers such as Accomplice and Pear VC. The financing brings the two-year-old company’s total raised since its 2019 inception to $50 million. Accomplice and Greycroft co-led its $7 million Series A last June.
Put simply, Cardless aims to help consumer brands launch credit cards “very quickly and easily” by handling the program creation, card underwriting, lending, issuance and customer service for brands. This quarter, the startup launched three digital programs &#8212; with the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers, British soccer team Manchester United and the Miami Marlins, a Major League Baseball team based in Florida.
The company is out to modernize the whole concept of co-branded credit card programs. Of the 200 that exist in the U.S. today, only one is from a company that is less than two decades old, according to Cardless’ co-founder and president Michael Spelfogel.
“There are close to 200 brands with traditional cards but they are often old legacy businesses such as Costco and Sam’s,” he told TechCrunch. “We want to connect folks with brands they love most, and elevate fans’ relationships with those brands.”
Cardless’ customized rewards programs are catered to very specific demographics “that actually truly appreciate the value that that brand is providing,” Spelfogel added. 
“Our first programs helped fans get things like players’ autographs and experiences that money can’t buy,” he said.  The company plans to announce “several” more programs this year and says that it’s able to do so “in a matter of weeks” compared to traditional issuers, which can take months or more than a year to issue similar programs.
Those reward programs include digital apps and numberless, virtual cards.

Cardless is attempting to shake up a massive market. Consumer credit cards yielded an estimated $150 billion in revenue for traditional banks in 2019, but startups only captured a small fraction of the value. Cardless aims to help brands and tech companies snag a larger piece of the huge market by working with a bank issuer to provide simple card issuance and bespoke digital credit programs for customers of those brands. 
“This funding round is the result, not the start, of the long-awaited transition to digital-focused card issuing,” said Scott Kazmierowicz, Cardless CEO, in a written statement.
Cardless is not restricted to working with sports brands.
“We’re committed to supporting the super users of today’s influential brands across a variety of verticals,” said Spelfogel.  “Cardless puts the customer first by eliminating fees and providing responsible products with transparent rates.”
Andrew Steele of Activant was impressed with Cardless’ ability to power and execute &#8220;unique&#8221; credit card programs &#8220;for prestigious and innovative brands&#8221; just two years after launch.
“Most brands have been restricted from launching innovative credit card programs due to the limitations of incumbent providers,” he added. “It became clear that Cardless can transform and expand one of the largest markets in digital payments, and that we&#8217;re only in the early innings of what&#8217;s possible.”

Xisco, Watford &#8212; Heck of a player. Had a short but decent run with Georgian powers Dinamo Tbilisi. Took over Watford and got them promoted. That&#8217;s all we&#8217;ve got, and Watford does not exactly like manager stability. Odds of being in the job come May 2022: 3/10

Daniel Farke, Norwich City &#8212; Received plenty of praise for playing the game the right way, at least managerial speaking, and has led two promotion campaigns&#8230; but might some more pragmatic play have helped the Canaries avoid relegation in the first place. Dean Smith, Aston Villa &#8212; Solid, demanding, and not boring, but what happens if Jack Grealish leaves Villa Park? Because the few months without him last year were&#8230; not ideal. Odds of being in the job come May 2022: 6/10
Ralph Hasenhuttl, Southampton &#8212; Definitely decent, but can he produce a top-half side? Odds of being in the job come May 2022: 5/10

Graham Potter, Brighton and Hove Albion &#8212; Is it weird to call him the statistician&#8217;s Bielsa? Potter&#8217;s teams play great football and produce huge advanced stats, but we&#8217;ve yet to see the Seagulls finish chances in a manner befitting their stats. <h4>He&#8217;s got a system (allegedly or proven), but is it good?</h4>
Mikel Arteta, Arsenal &#8211;What do we really know about Mikel Arteta as a manager after a season-and-a-half? He took over Arsenal with the Gunners in 11th, then led them through Project Restart to an eighth-place finish and the FA Cup. They then finished eighth again despite dipping as low as 15th in December. The defending has improved. Odds of being in the job come May 2022: 5/10
Sean Dyche, Burnley &#8212; You a back or a keeper? Kick the ball far away. You a wide man or a midfielder? Find a forehead! The embodiment of statistical defiance. Took Burnley to EUROPE. Gave the world the best press conference banter in some time with his &#8220;Looky-likeys&#8221; discussion. Pristine goatee. Odds of being in the job come May 2022: 9/10
Nuno Espirito Santo, Tottenham &#8212; Led Wolves to promotion and Europe, which are the main accomplishments of his managerial tenure (and quite good ones). Basically, it feels like a good hire if only because he&#8217;s not Tim Sherwood or Harry Redknapp. Odds of being in the job come May 2022: 9/10
Respected elders
David Moyes, West Ham &#8212; The Irons&#8217; boss saw his star fall from a single-season at Man United through several wayward campaigns, but what he did at West Ham was nothing short of wonderful in driving it back into Europe. Now what? Do it again. Odds of being in the job come May 2022: 9/10
Marcelo Bielsa, Leeds United &#8212; The apple of seemingly every other manager&#8217;s eye, he&#8217;s got Powerpoints and a great reputation. West Ham United face an uphill battle to keep Declan Rice at the club after the 22-year-old midfielder <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/jul/01/declan-rice-rejects-west-ham-contract-offers-chelsea-manchester-united-city-champions-league" target="_blank" rel="noopener" target="_blank">reportedly</a> rejected a pair of contract offers amid transfer interest from Chelsea and Manchester United.

Having started all four of England&#8217;s games at EURO 2020 thus far, Rice&#8217;s stock has somehow managed to rise even higher than it was at the end of the 2020-21 Premier League season, when he played a massive part of West Ham finishing 6th and qualifying for the Europa League.
Rice, however, is reportedly desperate to play in the Champions League next season, and he&#8217;s willing to leave West Ham to do so (again, reportedly). With three years remaining on his current contract at West ham, Rice likely won&#8217;t find it easy engineering a move away from the London Stadium.
West Ham reportedly value Rice at $140 million, putting him in <a href="https://www.flyingeze.com/news/kane-manchester-city-transfer-news-latest" target="_blank" rel="noopener" target="_blank">the same bracket as fellow England stars Harry Kane</a> and <a href="https://www.flyingeze.com/news/transfer-news-man-city-to-make-140-million-bid-for-grealish" target="_blank" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Jack Grealish</a>, both of whom were reportedly the subject of interest and/or mega-bids from Manchester City in recent weeks.
Declan Rice is famously a former member of the academy setup at Chelsea, where he spent nearly a decade developing as a prospect before he was released by the Blues at the age of 14, in 2014. Chelsea and England midfielder Mason Mount is a very close friend to Rice, which makes a return to west London all the more appealing.
The reigning European champions are yet to dip their toes into the transfer market this summer, but manager Thomas Tuchel is said to be backed with a sizable transfer budget as he looks to make the squad his own after taking over just days before the January window closed.
As for Manchester United, a central midfielder in the mold of Rice is sorely needed at Old Trafford. Jadon Sancho is expected to be unveiled as the key attacking signing of the summer, but the 21-year-old winger will only serve as a part-time solution to paper over the cracks if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer isn&#8217;t handed a midfield general capable of shielding the backline.

Transfer news: Rice rejects West Ham contract offers amid Chelsea, Man Utd interest

Multiple reports say that our long international nightmare is over: Borussia Dortmund and Manchester United have agreed a fee for Jadon Sancho.
<a href="https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11667/12345871/jadon-sancho-manchester-united-and-borussia-dortmund-agree-deal-for-england-international" target="_blank">It&#8217;s a reported $100 million fee</a>, a top-20 price tag for an individual player. It&#8217;s a step above Nicolas Pepe to Arsenal and below Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan.
Personal terms are agreed and the deal will reportedly go ahead after EURO 2020.

Luke Shaw has hit out at his former Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho, as the England left back let rip on the legendary Portuguese coach.

Shaw, 25, spoke with reporters about Mourinho&#8217;s recent comments criticizing his set-piece deliveries for England at EURO 2020.
During Mourinho&#8217;s two years in charge at United from 2016-18, he constantly criticized Shaw and made him a scapegoat.
Here is what Shaw told reporters when asked about the criticism from Mourinho this summer, as the former Tottenham boss is working as a radio pundit in the UK before taking over at Roma this summer.
<h4>What has been said?</h4>
&#8220;I don&#8217;t really understand it, to be honest,&#8221; Shaw said. &#8220;I don&#8217;t know why he is still going on and wanting to point at me. I don&#8217;t feel like the set-pieces were as bad as he was saying. I might have done one in the second half, a corner, that didn&#8217;t get over the first man. But that was one out of three. The other two or three, I don&#8217;t think, were as &#8216;dramatically bad&#8217; as he says.
&#8220;Look, he has got to do his job. He has got his opinion. I am used to him saying negative stuff about me now, so I just pass it by. I leave it be, I ignore it. I just focus on what the coaching staff say here, what Gareth says and that&#8217;s that, really. His voice is obviously very big. He likes to talk a lot about me, as everyone has seen recently. But his voice is his own. He can say what he wants. I will focus on myself. I take set-pieces at United, so it wasn&#8217;t as if it was something I wasn&#8217;t ready for.&#8221;
&#8220;There is no hiding that we didn&#8217;t get on,&#8221; Shaw added. &#8220;I think he was a brilliant manager but, you know, the past is the past. It is time to move on. I am trying to move on but, obviously, he can&#8217;t. He continuously talks about me, which I find quite strange. Even some of the lads have said &#8216;what&#8217;s his problem?&#8217; and &#8216;why does he keep talking?&#8217;
&#8220;He just needs to move on. Hopefully he can find his peace with that and finally move on and stop worrying about me. Clearly I am in his head a lot and he clearly thinks about me a lot.&#8221;
Shaw was then asked if he&#8217;s able to laugh off the criticism from Mourinho now.
&#8220;Yes, because I don&#8217;t think any of you realize the two or three years I had with him and how bad it was then, what it was like then,&#8221; Shaw said. &#8220;What he says now is nothing compared to how it used to be. I am being totally honest. I am so past it now. I have grown up a lot. The three years I had with him, I learnt a lot. I find it easy to ignore him now and even laugh about it. But it&#8217;s better just to ignore it and move on with my life.&#8221;
<h4>Sympathy grows for England left back</h4>
It&#8217;s quite rare for a player to come out and share this level of information about his lack of a relationship with a manager, but Shaw was obviously pushed to the edge for a long, long time.
His performances improved drastically after Mourinho left Manchester United and he is now one of the best left backs in the Premier League and a regular for England.
Mourinho&#8217;s criticism of Shaw always seemed very harsh as he&#8217;d only just recovered from a horrific leg break when Louis van Gaal was manager and was clearly working his way back to full fitness.
The Portuguese coach has singled out Iker Casillas, Dele Alli and many others during his managerial career and Shaw became the player he focused on the most during his time at Man United. Shaw did acknowledge that he learned a lot under Mourinho and many will say &#8216;well, that toughened him up.&#8217;
Maybe it did, but it&#8217;s clear that Mourinho made Shaw very unhappy and his continued criticism seems strange.

USWNT stars Tobin Heath and Christen Press have departed Manchester United after spending the 2020-21 season with the Women&#8217;s Super League (WSL) side on one-year contracts, the club confirmed on Thursday.

Heath and Press each signed with Manchester United last fall during the COVID-19 pandemic after electing not to participate in the National Women&#8217;s Soccer League (NWSL) Challenge Cup when the league returned from a three-month shutdown. The USWNT stars each scored four goals for Manchester United — Press in 17 appearances and Heath in 11.
Manchester United finished 4th in the WSL this season, but the Red Devils mounted a bit of a title challenge for close to three-quarters of the season before eventually falling away down the stretch.

It is most likely that they will decide and/or announce the next step of their respective careers following the Olympics.

Through 24 matches, EURO 2020 has delivered more than a few solid debate points.
<ul>
<li>Is the Netherlands the real deal under Frank de Boer?</li>
<li>Who&#8217;s the true dark horse of the tournament? Sweden? Czech Republic?</li>
<li>Is Croatia the most frustrating, impossible-to-predict team in Europe when it comes to major tournaments?</li>
</ul>
England fans will answer that last one, &#8220;No, mate, but only because of us.&#8221;

And while there&#8217;s no &#8220;fix&#8221; guaranteed to work, England&#8217;s substandard start to the tournament looks to have at least one solution screaming at its manager to try before, &#8220;It&#8217;s coming home&#8230;&#8221; becomes &#8220;&#8230;only because the final is at Wembley and it has to be there when two other teams play for it.&#8221;
Gareth Southgate has made a lot of solid decisions in his tenure as England boss, more of them than poor ones to be sure, but it&#8217;s oddly reassuring to see a respected-enough coach prove that every &#8230; single &#8230; coach &#8230; on &#8230; Earth &#8230; will stand by his bad personnel decisions even when they are staring him in the face.
In this case, Southgate is not playing Jadon Sancho as he calls the Borussia Dortmund (and soon-to-be Manchester United?) star one of the side&#8217;s &#8220;<a href="https://www.skysports.com/football/news/12016/12336734/jadon-sancho-england-manager-gareth-southgate-explains-why-forward-is-struggling-for-chances-at-euro-2020" target="_blank">explosive players experiencing a big tournament for the first time</a>.&#8221;
It hasn&#8217;t hurt Alexander Isak of Sweden. Or Mount.

Sancho has 19 caps for England and 908 minutes, an average of approximately 48 minutes per appearance. The 21-year-old was used in one of England&#8217;s two warm-up friendlies in June, missed the Three Lions&#8217; three World Cup qualifiers in March, and made one start amongst his five caps &#8212; scoring a goal and an assist &#8212; during the two fall international windows.
It&#8217;s seemingly not an aversion to &#8220;flair players&#8221; even if England fans&#8217; usual cries are for Jack Grealish: Raheem Sterling and Mason Mount get plenty of run. And as for the youth question, that&#8217;s odd as Mount and Phil Foden both have fewer caps than Sancho.
Here&#8217;s a selection of minutes so far at EURO from a very small sample size, but one that has delivered one goal against Croatia and Scotland:

You&#8217;re looking for a playmaker, yeah? England&#8217;s leaders in key passes per game over two matches are fullbacks, Luke Shaw and Reece James with four. Mount and Sterling have two. Harry Kane one.
Sterling had his goal and a key pass against Croatia, taking one fewer touch (52) than Foden and Kane combined and five more than Mount&#8217;s 47.
Furthermore, Kane only managed 19 touches in the 0-0 with Scotland, giving him less than 50 touches on the ball in 164 minutes of EURO 2020.
And, as Andy Edwards pointed out in his &#8220;<a href="https://soccer.nbcsports.com/2021/06/19/3-things-we-learned-from-england-v-scotland/" target="_blank">Three things we learned</a>&#8221; from that dismal draw, it&#8217;s important to get Harry the ball.
<h4>Attacking not the plan?</h4>
A caveat here: Southgate&#8217;s England does not look like a team implementing a plan to &#8220;go get it&#8221; at a tournament. What this post presupposes is&#8230; hopefully he isn&#8217;t?
The Three Lions terrific and experienced back line can call upon Kyle Walker, Harry Maguire, John Stones, Tyrone Mings, Luke Shaw, and Kieran Trippier without going to a player under 10 caps and has only allowed a single goal in 2021 (a 2-1 win over Poland at Wembley in World Cup qualifying).
So perhaps we need to say that Southgate has already decided against anything &#8220;risky&#8221; with his tactics, as the 0-0 with Scotland and 1-0 over Croatia followed:
1-0 over Romania
1-0 over Austria
2-1 over Poland
2-0 over Albania
5-0 over San Marino.
Since Sept. 2020, England has only allowed five goals and boasts a 11W-2D-2L record. Three of those goals came against Belgium. Pretty good.
<h4>The case for Sancho (and Grealish)</h4>
Now unless you&#8217;re of some bizarre opinion that the Bundesliga is closer to some inferior second-tier league in a fourth-tier country, I&#8217;ve got news for you.
This is what Sancho does better than just about anyone on the globe, set people up for shots.
Actually, he does almost every attacking thing better than most, but I digress.
When taking the club stats/90 of Mount, Grealish, Sancho, Sterling, and Foden, here&#8217;s what we see in the top three of these catagories:

Now perhaps you look at those and wonder, &#8220;Why aren&#8217;t you saying Grealish and Sancho?&#8221;
Well, maybe I am&#8230; or should be? And to be fair, I&#8217;d play both.
But in deciding to make the case for Sancho over Grealish, I&#8217;ll theorize that the latter&#8217;s super impressive numbers are skewed a bit by the entire Aston Villa offense going through him, while Dortmund&#8217;s spectacular group of playmakers including Reus, Brandt, Haaland, and even USMNT star Gio Reyna stops Sancho from accumulating loftier figures.
<h4>Grealish + Sancho XI for England versus Czech Republic</h4>
With England already through and facing a Czech Republic team scored twice against Scotland and once against the Croatians, why not go for it? And maybe (probably not) this was the plan.
Couple of big picture things here: Sam Johnstone has one cap and Aaron Ramsdale zero, so I&#8217;d let Jordan Pickford rest even with the group in the balance (preferably for Johnstone) just in case a Pickford injury, illness, or suspension requires a first EURO appearances for either the West Brom or Sheffield United keeper.
I also think you&#8217;d love to see Dominic Calvert-Lewin or Marcus Rashford in place of Kane, but given his lack of touches mentioned above and the whole idea of Grealish and Sancho opening up room for Kane&#8230; well&#8230;

There&#8217;s an argument for Sterling in that he has tremendous experience, but at this point you have to ask about his big-game production because it is not a small sample size. One goal and two assists in 14 appearances between the World Cup and EURO &#8212; the goal coming versus Croatia &#8212; plus that glaring miss against Lyon for Man City in last season&#8217;s Champions League quarterfinal and nothing in five UCL knockout round appearances this season.
So why hasn&#8217;t Sancho played against two sides, Croatia and Scotland, whose defenders are very comfortable with the direct approach?
Unless the answer is, &#8220;The boys don&#8217;t like him,&#8221; &#8212; in which case he wouldn&#8217;t be in the squad, correct? &#8212; then we&#8217;re not sure what Southgate is doing besides thinking himself out of a group win.
Or maybe he just doesn&#8217;t want to win and have some guy at a pub say, &#8220;Hey Gazza&#8230; told you you needed to play Sancho.&#8221;
Or maybe he&#8217;s conspiring with Manchester United to keep Sancho&#8217;s price down?
When all of the answers are conspiracy theories, well, you know what to do Mr. Southgate.
