The Fire Incident

Tragically, this incident occurred after a devastating fire swept through the crowded tourist bar in Crans-Montana on New Year’s Day.

The upscale venue promoted its extravagant bottle service online with a video captioned: “The Constellation Crans-Montana welcomes you every day from 9 am to 2 am, 365 days a year without interruption.”

The haunting footage depicts young staff and patrons celebrating in the bar's basement amid flashing lights, pyrotechnics, and dry ice.

A fire was first reported at 1:30 am local time (12:30 am UK time) after locals noticed smoke emanating from the establishment.

Emergency services quickly arrived and assisted numerous victims escaping the blaze.

Shocking footage appeared to capture the moment the fire spread at Le Constellation Bar after the ceiling ignited.

Panicked witnesses believe that champagne sparklers ignited the roof of the packed venue.

Two young French women reported that waiters had been carrying bottles with sparklers inside, and one of the sparklers made contact with the ceiling.

One witness told BFM TV : “During the evening, a waiter climbed onto another waiter’s shoulders. He was holding a birthday candle, which was very close to the ceiling, and [the ceiling] caught fire.

“Within seconds, the entire ceiling was ablaze. Everything was made of wood.”

Another witness, identified only as Emma, stated that it took mere “seconds” for the entire ceiling to ignite.

“We rushed outside, screaming and crying,” she recounted.

The fire reportedly caused a “flashover” explosion, triggered by a rapid increase in air temperature, as flames spread through the bar's wooden ceiling.

A local police spokesperson confirmed that “dozens of pyrotechnic devices in bottles” were placed on tables in the bar's basement.
