MILLIONS of voters have been subjected to some of the nastiest local elections campaigning ever seen.
But the sight of police officers and security guards being sent to protect voters at polling stations in Jewish areas yesterday was a grim new low.

Now others can’t even enjoy the basic democratic freedom of voting without the threat of intimidation.

They abused the right to genuine political protest, instead creating violent rallies designed to frighten Jewish people who had nothing to do with the actions of the Israeli government.
Lord Walney, the Government’s former independent adviser on political violence, says the hate marches should be banned.
He is right.
